Community Talks

Nakile Home co-sponsors Community Talks with NSCC Burridge Campus and Western Regional Health Centre.  These talks cover health-related topics of interest to the community, delivered by local speakers/experts.  Some of the topics include: Men's and Women's Health, Mental Health Illnesses, Spiritual and Dream Interpretations, Parenting, as examples.  Sessions are scheduled in the Spring and Fall on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-8:30 pm at NSCC Burridge Campus on Pleasant Street in Yarmouth, NS.  There is no fee for the sessions.  Sessions are advertised in local media and on the grounds of NSCC Burridge Campus.

Coping with Grief

A Community Support Group on Loss & Grief is offered by Bertha Brannen, Nakile Administrator, twice a year in the Yarmouth area.  The sessions run for six weeks and offer information on the Normal Grieving Process, The Emotions of Loss and Grief, the Stages of Dying & Death, How Children View Death, Stuck in Grief, and Moving On.  Sessions are advertised in the local newspaper, through Huskilson's Funeral Home, and in church bulletins.  A half-day seminar on Grief & the Holidays is held in late November or early December on an annual basis.  There is no fee for any of the sessions.

DivorceCare

This 13-week video and group discussion program is facilitated by Bertha Brannen, Nakile Administrator, in the Fall and/or Winter.  It is advertised through the local newspaper and church bulletins.  There is no fee for the sessions.
