Resident’s Bill of Rights

“I am a Resident.  All that I ask … is that you treat me in the same way you would want to be treated if you were a resident.”

  • The Resident has a valuable contribution to make to society.

  • The Resident is entitled to a life span with respect and dignity.

  • The Resident is entitled to freedom of expression.

  • The Resident, when able to make a choice, should be given this freedom.

  • The Resident should be given the freedom to function to the maximum of his or her potential.

  • The resident is a product of society with a different philosophy than our present one.

  • The Resident has dependent and independent needs.

  • The Resident is entitled to his or her own religions and cultural beliefs.

  • The Resident has the right to appoint an advocate.

  • The Resident is the most important person in our home.  They are not dependent on us…we are not dependent on them.
